Chasing Coastlines’ Spring Travel Inspiration
Looking to plan a last minute trip this spring? Maybe you’re coming in for some spontaneous inspiration, or maybe you’re one of those amazing planners who had your trip booked a year ago and are already looking to 2027. Either way, we’re sharing a few of our favorite places to spend a spring break. Consider this your spring travel inspiration. Happy spring travels!

South Florida & the Florida Keys

We’ve been talking about South Florida a lot recently, but there’s good reason for that. It’s warm, sunny and there’s so much to do, whether you want relaxation or adventure. It’s a busy time of year in South Florida, so I would find a Keys retreat and enjoy as much time on or near the water as possible.

North Carolina’s Coast

There are simply a ton of options on the NC coast and any are fun spring break destinations. You may run the risk of some cooler morning and evenings (it’s not Florida), but it also makes it a great time to check out some of the things there are to do off the beach when it’s not full on summer-hot. Holden Beach, Surf City, Atlantic Beach & the Outer Banks are all fantastic choices. It’s also a great time of year to visit Cape Lookout National Seashore.

Washington, DC to Philadelphia, PA

Take in some U.S history with an east coast road trip to Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA. There are so many incredible national resources in either city that your kids will love, from monuments to museums to fun restaurants.

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Prefer more of a mountain escape for your spring break? We love Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley for hiking, caverns, history, and beautiful wineries.

Beaufort and the Sea Islands take up a little space in my heart – highly recommend for a spring break trip. Beaufort is full of amazing restaurants and architecture; Hunting Island State Park is a palmetto tree paradise. Best of both worlds.
Banff National Park, Canada

Breathtaking in every way, and maybe still a bit ahead of high season. Head to Banff if you want outdoor adventure and some of the most awe-inspiring scenery.

Stockholm, Sweden’s Archipelago

The Stockholm Archipelago combines the world’s of a major European capital city with quiet, rural islands and life on the water. It’s a unique place that you can read all about, especially lovely in the spring.

London, England

There’s simply so much to do in this massive city. Take in a show on the West End, explore numerous museums, play in Hyde Park, discover everything Harry Potter… the list goes on and on. Expect high crowds during the Easter weeks, so if you can hit an alternate date range, I would.
Copenhagen, Denmark

There’s something magical about Copenhagen in spring. Flowers in bloom, those first warm days, long hours of sunlight, so many green spaces that make the city a haven for kids.

Iceland

Simply stunning and hard to believe it’s real. Make your way out of Reyjavík and into some of the most jaw dropping country you can imagine.

Croatia

Sun and that stunning Mediterranean blue water! Need I say more? Croatia has an old world feel about it that will leave you fascinated. Find a cool place to stay close to the water and explore the villages, cities and unbelievable nature that this country has to offer. Post all about Dubrovnik & the Dalmatian coast coming soon!
The Netherlands

A road trip though the Netherlands in spring is a great chance to see more flowers than you can imagine, not to mention all the other cool stuff there is to do there. This guide to a Netherlands road trip would be a great place to start.

Planning transportation is always the first step. We love to use Kayak to scout out the best flight deals. It’s easy to check for the cheapest and best timing across airlines this way.
If your journey requires a vehicle, you can also use Kayak to compare rental cars for your group size.
For accommodation, we always prefer looking for a great VRBO when we travel with kids. It makes it so easy to relax in the evenings and, we think, provides a deeper connection to the place you’re calling home for the week.
