10 Best Playgrounds in Copenhagen
Copenhagen is a dream city for finding amazing playgrounds for children. Danish playgrounds are creative, unique and thoughtful and are a delight to discover with your kids. Honestly, it’s hard to pick the best, but I’m giving you our favorites, the ones we have returned to again and again over the years. In Danish, the words for playground is legeplads, so now that you know, let’s dive into the best playgrounds in Copenhagen.

Skydebanehaven
Located in the Vesterbro neighborhood, Skydebanehaven is tucked inside some impressive walls that make it feel more like a castle playground than anything else. This is one of Copenhagen’s fabulous staffed playgrounds, so during opening hours (opening hours refer to the attendant’s opening hours, not the playgrounds), you’ll find kids bikes and other activities available to use.
Bathroom facilities, plenty of space and activities, and paddling pool and those super cool castle-like walls make this a favorite.

Quick-tip: Be sure the check out the Siciliansk Is that’s right across the street for a sweet treat.
Nørrebroparken
This huge park stretches through the most urban and diverse area of Copenhagen. There are multiple areas for play and the famous Nørrebroruten (bike & walking path) allows you to access them all with minimal walking.
The Bermuda Triangle playground is the largest, and features crashed planes and boats for climbing, monster slides for the daredevils, and another giant paddling pool (in the summer months). There’s plenty of space for whatever games your child can dream up, as well as sand boxes, swings and space for biking.

Head down the route to stop by The Red Square (Den Røde Plads) and the Black Square (Den Sorte Plads) for unique CPH play structures, like the giant black octopus or the boxing ring.

Den Franske Legeplads & Trafiklegepladsen
Both located in the largest of CPH parks, Fælledparken, these playgrounds are neighbors and both worth a visit on a lovely day. Fransklegeplads (The French Playground) has trampolines, obstacle courses, boardwalks and basketball courts. Trafiklegeplads (The Traffic Playground) offers a miniature Copenhagen neighborhood that allows children to learn biking rules and have fun at the same time. It’s special because it’s the kind of place you won’t find everywhere – it’s a Denmark specialty that’s worth a look.

Tårnelegeplads
Also located in Fælledparken, but on the pure other end, which means blocks away, this super cool playground (The Tower Playground) features some of the city’s most famous landmarks in child sizes. Watch your kid climb the Round Tower or the Marble Church roof, play street hockey or cage ball. Check out the crazy mirrors or stop for a picnic lunch at one of the many tables in the playground.
Another staffed playground, there are also bathroom facilities and a next door skate park if your kids are so inclined.

Amager Remiseparken
A unique park with farm animals, an Old-West & castle-themed playgrounds and one of the famous Thomas Dambo trolls, Amager Remisen is pretty cool.
The kommune’s website shares information about the staff opening hours here.

Lindevangsparken
Tucked into the heart of Frederiksberg, this park feels like it has so many corners worthy of discovering. There are water elements in the summer, ice skating in the winter, basketball courts, climbing structures, ping pong tables and a beautiful green space for picnics. Plus, easy access to a bakery and coffee shop (Bodenhoff) right across the street. All wins in my book.
Valby Parken
Naturlegepladsen (The Nature Playground) is a beautiful playground, meant to celebrate the fun there is to be had outdoors. Basketball courts, another paddling pool and a campfire make this spot perfect no matter the season, but I think it’s especially great in the spring.

While you’re in Valbyparken, you can stop by one of the many lovely themed gardens or make your way to the water for a dip. So much to do.

Danish Architecture Center Playground
Worth a visit because it’s unique and the setting is lovely. Stroll along canals and the harbor front, then take a break here to let the kids climb and explore this one of a kind play space. The Architecture Center requires a ticket, but the outdoor playground is free to use.

Konditaget Lugers
Located on top of a parking garage roof (only in Denmark), this fitness themed playground is really worth a stop just because of the location. The views of Nordhavn are incredible and the trampolines up top are super bouncy.

As a bonus, a park on ground level sits just beside the building and has a fun treasure theme that’s great for younger kids.

Quick-tip: Close by you’ve got an incredible bakery, Andersen & Maillard, and fantastic ice cream, Isoteket.
Vandlegepladsen
The Water Playground is a really huge space with and, on a hot day, kids will love running through the shallow pools and directly onto playground equipment in this large area. It’s a free and fun way to get a small taste of a water park and is especially fun for children under 10.
While the playground is always open, the water features will only be turned on in the summer. There have been days when we have arrived and the pools are not filled and some of the features are turned off. It can be a bit of a challenge to determine when those days are (sometimes it is related to maintenance), so check Copenhagen Kommune’s website for updates on water features in any of its parks.

Bonus Rainy Day Options
More likely than not, you’ll come across a rainy day if you’re in CPH long enough. If so, check one of these great (FREE!) indoor options.
Ku.be
This indoor community center located in Frederiksberg is perfect for a few rainy hours of entertainment. Slides, life-size vertical mazes and running tracks make great energy busters.

Blegdamsremisen
Located in the Østerbro area, this public indoor playground has designated age blocks throughout the week, which you can see here.
Note: Remisen is currently under renovations until early 2026, but be sure to check it out once it reopens!
